Classroom Management-Cultural Diversity
Teacher Preparation
Diverse student populations enrich the classroom environment through their experiences and beliefs
1. As a teacher you have to determine what preconceived ideas, stereotypes and/or prejudices you may have that could be carried into the classroom
2. Your own awareness can prevent possible transfer of negative perceptions
or attitudes to students regarding diversity in the classroom
3. Accept and responsibly model a high value and appreciation for cultural diversity in the classroom as
students watch everything a teacher does
4. Attempt to learn as much as possible about student histories, experiences and micro-cultural relationships in their communities
5. As a teacher it is essential to plan for inclusion elements of cultural diversity in student curriculum and related activities
